About Our Organization:
Lake County, one of the original 17 counties established in 1861 during the formation of the Colorado Territory, is nestled at the top of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Known as the headwaters of the Arkansas River, Lake County is home to the City of Leadville (the highest incorporated City in North America) and the Village of Twin Lakes, the namesake of our county. Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, Colorado's two highest peaks, are amongst more than two dozen beautiful summits that take center stage and are viewable throughout the county. With local and mining history and tours, hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and golf amongst just some of locals and visitors' favorite activities, there is never a shortage of opportunities for you to enjoy all that Colorful Colorado, and this fantastic mountain community, have to offer.
