This position works under close supervision from a higher authority.

This position will perform technical assistance to the Correctional

Officer IIs and Security Staff. The position will inspect the inmates

incoming/outgoing mail and parcels, checking for contraband; confiscates

and controls any found contraband. Maintains property accounts and

records location of property; release property to authorized units and

individuals; inform employees receiving property of responsibility and

liability. The position will also monitor and authorize the entrance and

departure of employees and visitors from the complex. Assure compliance

with overall facility procedures in an electronic control center,

including security equipment and override systems; respond to internal,

incoming and outgoing communication and maintain accurate security

records. In addition, this position will perform related administrative

tasks and complete special projects/assignments and reports as required

by a supervisor. Maintain and operates general office equipment and

attend meetings and required training. This position is required to

drive/travel on State business and perform other duties appropriate to

the assignment.\

This is a safety-sensitive position which is defined as any job

designated by an employer as a safety-sensitive position or any job that

includes tasks or duties that the employer in good faith believes could

affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or

others, per A.R.S. 23-493. This position is subject to the provisions of

Department Order 522, Drug-Free Workplace.\

Correctional Officers Trainees will be a grade 12 uncovered position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

High School Diploma or GED, 18 years of age, no felony convictions,

valid Arizona Drivers License, and proof of legal U.S. residency.\

\

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid

state-issued drivers license appropriate to the assignment. Employees

who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record

checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any

required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Selective Preference(s):

You will be given the opportunity to apply for and have priority over

other applicants for a Correctional Officer position. In order to be

considered, successful completion of the following must be completed.\

psychological exam, and background check.
